The desire for toys in our society is obvious.The media displays a constant flow of advertising to showcase the wide variety of entertainment available to the paying customer. Unfortunately, it is the stress of living in this society which creates the hunger for more and more toys.

It is by living in a society which does not nurture the sincere passions of the individual from birth that drives us into a consumerist black hole of ultimate despair. We are unsatisfied from the beginning and the only escape we are offered is entertainment. As Ted Kosinski pointed out “Without the entertainment industry the system probably would not have been able to get away with putting as much stress-producing pressure on us as it does.”

Indeed, it would seem rather convenient for those in the positions of power to be able to utilize the media as the proverbial carrot at the end of the stick as well as a smoke and mirrors distraction from reality.
